Become an FCD Instructor
NCDA FCD Master Trainer Training
We are now seeking highly qualified FCD Instructors to become FCD Master Trainers. Please see attached application. Applications must be submitted no later than December 2.
The FCD MT meeting is scheduled for February 3, 2025 at 6:00 am Eastern Time. Please note that meeting times are aimed at those participating internationally. Full participation is required to successfully complete the training. There will be extensive pre- and post-work to complete the training program.

Instructor Training
- Selected through an application process. Selection is based on education, experience, adult training abilities, and commitment.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications as indicated on NCDA website.
- Instructors must successfully complete an Instructor Training Workshop given by an NCDA Master Trainer to become an instructor.
- To maintain your NCDA Facilitating Career Development Instructor status you must maintain membership on the NCDA Instructor Registry.
The NCDA Instructor Registry offers:
- Advertisement of Facilitating Career Development Training and Certification classes on the NCDA Website.
- Complimentary receipt of updates to curriculum.
- Your name appears on the registry as an NCDA recognized instructor.
- You will receive notifications of any updates or changes to rules and notification of upcoming available trainings and conferences.
- For students to be eligible for the CCSP or GCDF credential, they must be trained by an NCDA Instructor and the Facilitating Career Development Training and Certification Program must total 120 hours. These hours can be a combination of 80 hours of classroom training and 40 hours of homework and outside activities.
NCDA Facilitating Career Development Master Trainer
- Master Trainers are current Facilitating Career Development Instructors selected through an application process. Selection is based on a set of specific criteria.
- Training is scheduled on an “as needed” basis.
- NCDA will notify everyone on the NCDA Instructor Registry about future training.
- NCDA offers a Master Trainer registry and a training calendar on the website to assist in recruitment of new NCDA Facilitating Career Development Instructors.
Qualifications
The SIX qualifications needed to be accepted for an NCDA Instructor Training Workshop are:
1) Career Development Expertise
Must fulfill ONE of the following categories:
Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling with
- Coursework in career development, vocational assessment AND
- Practicum/internship with major career emphasis AND
- Minimum of 3 years of career development experience (teaching, training, materials development or practice) OR
- Minimum of 3 years of delivery of career development services (working with individuals or groups to assist them with career planning and seeking employment)
OR
Master's degree in a field such as Human Resource Development, Psychology or Education with
- 5 years experience in career development or delivery of career development services
- Recent continuing education related to career development
- Presentations and/or published books/training materials related to career development
OR
Bachelor's degree in a field such as Human Resource Development, Psychology or Education with
- 5 years experience in career development or delivery of career development services
- Recent continuing education in career development
- Presentations and/or published books/training materials related to career development
2) Training Expertise
Must fulfill ONE of the following categories:
- Has a minimum of 3 years experience teaching/training adults AND
- Has taught career-related counselor education courses at the college or university level OR
- Has taught career development courses at the college or university level OR
- Has conducted broad, in-depth, career development staff training within a corporate, school, or government setting.
3) eLearning Skills and Experience
All Instructors will receive training in the delivery of the curriculum via eLearning. It is critical that instructor applicants have the basic skills listed below.
Required Computer Equipment (own or have regular access to:)
- Experience with course delivery platforms and elements
- Have taken an online course
- Have taught an online course
- Have stable broadband access to deliver the course
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Course Management Systems (CMS)
- Experience with creating and recording videos
- Experience with extensions, computers apps or programs that enhanced online teaching and delivery of a course (eg. Jamboards, Padlet, Google Docs, Piazza, Survey Monkey, Prezi)
- Experience recording or capturing your screen using programs like Camtasia, QuickTime, Look, Screencastify, etc.
- Confident with your ability to troubleshoot technology issues
4) Credentials/Memberships
- Has licenses/certifications related to counseling, career counseling and career development
- Has memberships and/or leadership experiences in professional associations involved in counseling, career development and/or training
5) Professional Contributions
- Has done presentations at conferences/conventions and written publications related to career development or education/training
- Has developed materials (client, program, training materials, journal articles)
6) Commitment
- A statement of exactly how you will use the training to develop and deliver a program to train OR
- A letter from an administrator or manager supporting applicant's plan for training

Instructor Training
Anyone who is interested in becoming an instructor for the Facilitating Career Development Training and Certification program must meet the required Qualifications.
Instructor Training Workshops
Please contact directly the trainers listed for each Instructor Training Workshop below. They will provide you with application forms and additional information (such as locations and starting times) about each workshop.
The cost to participate in an Instructor Training Workshop is $1500. The cost DOES NOT includes an NCDA Instructor Manual which is $350 plus S&H.
Typically, the cut-off date for accepting applications is 4-6 weeks prior to the training
